My artistic inspirations began as a child as I was deeply fascinated with my father’s camera and his constant interest in documenting our family life. In high school, I got my first camera, a 35MM which put me on my journey of capturing images and documenting my life, and perspectives, through art.
After high school, I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, majoring in Photography. My desire was always to become an art educator. I graduated from UW Parkside (Kenosha, WI) with a BA in K-12 Art Education. I also earned a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Lesley University (Boston, MA).
My photographic style consists of a more formal approach emphasizing composition in relation to the elements of art. My favorite subject matter includes still life, architecture and abstraction. My recent work has revolved around creating images limited to glass, sunlight, reflection and shadow. I have my own darkroom and love working with various printing processes which include non-traditional techniques. Visit Gallery 223 and see examples of my current work.
I hold memberships in several Wisconsin art organizations to include: Coalition of Photographic Art; Racine Art guild; area Artists Gallery; Wisconsin Visual Arts and the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation.
