Class Description:

Classes will focus on what makes for successful compositions. Students will be given various elements such as bird house, picket fence, a garden gate, birds, bramble branches hollyhocks, etc. for each student to put together their own composition.  The class will work on techniques to best create those elements they have chosen to create their own unique painting.

If there is sufficient time in the 4-week session, a second project of a rabbit will be introduced to focus on painting fur, animal eyes and a loose background technique.

Supplies Needed:

Participants should have professional grade water colors, brushes, masking fluid and quality paper. Projects are designed for 12 x 16 inches. Students should be familiar with pattern transfer and masking. It is recommended that you include Buff Titanium in your paint pallet. Also, don’t forget your water containers, apron, and towels.

Meet The Instructor:

I was born in California, attended college in Iowa earning a degree in secondary education.  We became an Air Force family, which meant not only travel, but it meant I connected with a variety of jobs all involving teaching, training and creativity.  My creative skills began with woodcarving, but I always wanted to try my hand at watercolor.  I started taking classes with artists Bev Joswiak, Vickie Nelson, Gene Drake, Bridget Austin and many others.  I love watercolor and I am still captivated with all the different effects and moods that come from my brush.  I have taught many classes and continue to enjoy sharing my skills with others.  I’ve been shown in many galleries successfully, been commissioned to paint pets and subjects, and competed in Wisconsin WRAP events.
