Class Description:
Learn and experience KINTSUGI. Kintsugi is a 400 year old Japanese craft in the mending of ceramics using precious metals, such as gold, silver and copper. The purpose behind Kintsugi (translated as gold mending in Japanese) is to create beauty from brokenness.
In this class you will be guided through a modern method of this ancient craft as you see and feel the beauty you have created from a broken piece of pottery that may have a significant meaning in your life, that you put back together. Or, enjoy taking a simple piece (bowl, plate, vase) that you break and transform into your own unique and beautiful piece.
No artistic gift is needed on your part and all materials needed for the day will be provided to you. A kit with all the materials needed for the project is provided with enough materials to work on one or two items at home as well. Each student will have a finished piece from the class.
Supplies Needed** All supplies will be provided.
